TyreWatch at Duo Operations, Imerys Cornwall

“We have been working with TyreWatch for over 8 months and introducing it to our large fleet here in Cornwall. Currently we are using the TyreWatch internal sensors on our Komatsu HD605’S, WA600 and our latest addition Komatsu GD675 Graders.

As a site supervisor I have had great support from everyone at TyreWatch from start to finish. The online homepage is easy to use from finding machines to checking pressures and with many configurations the system is very adaptable to anyone’s business/Plant. With a large fleet like ours we need to be on the ball with tyre safety and save as much tyre downtime and cost as much as possible, with real time pressures (cold + current), GPRS trip information, it is an asset to me as a Site Supervisor”

TyreWatch at Brett Aggregates, George Green Quarry, Slough

“Using the TyreWatch PlantSmart Tyre Telematic system that is fitted to our loading shovels has made the task of managing the tyre pressures of our machines very simple and easy.

Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of all our employees and visitors. PlantSmart assists us in this goal by reducing the risk of a blowout due to our tyres being underinflated.

Having remote access to real time tyre pressures benefits our business in keeping machine downtime to a minimum and also by reducing our impact on the environment. The proactive maintenance and warning alert emails save us time and money by notifying us of any puncture issues immediately, and has helped us to manage this area of our business more efficiently.”

TyreWatch delivers for Alcaline

Alcaline UK operate across the UK and Europe providing just in time logistics for a wide customer base. Alex Borlase, Transport Manager, is responsible for a fleet of over 100 HGVs from DAF, Volvo and Mercedes with over 200 HGV trailers that cover millions of kilometres every year.

Alex explains: “One of our vehicles picked up a slow puncture whilst delivering in Italy. TyreWatch first notified us of the problem at 14:32 with a predicted time to critical. I informed the driver he couldn’t reach our depot in Turin and advised a repair location on route. At 18:01 I could see the repair was completed, the tyre was inflated to 117psi and the vehicle was starting its onward journey.

The TyreWatch system works perfectly and will reduce truck tyre costs, potentially saving anything between £500 and £2,500 on this one incident alone. There is no doubt the inner tyre could have blown out destroying the tyre and causing damage to the air pipes and air bag.”

Improving control and time management

"We operate in the competitive construction sector. We’ve been data-driven for years keeping customers informed of delivery windows and letting them reschedule delivery slots. One morning a driver reported a half-inflated tyre during his daily walkaround inspection. We noticed our tyre service providers couldn’t accurately state the time their service van would arrive to fix the puncture.

By chance, later that week we heard of tyre telematics for trucks from our business telematic supplier. We installed TyreWatch across 17 vehicles and quickly discovered it gave us the same level of information and control we give to our customers. We can tell our tyre service team that we have a vehicle with a puncture, that it can drive back here safely, and the time they can arrive on-site. The tyre can then be repaired in vehicle downtime and everything is ready for work tomorrow.”

Mixed fleets need just one TPMS solution

“As the operator of a large fleet of trucks, we have got to take our responsibilities very seriously. When we decided to invest in TPMS across our fleet, we surveyed TPMS systems for trucks from tyre manufacturers. We quickly realised their limitations, as we run multiple-tyre brands through our policy of sourcing vehicles from different manufacturers. But we knew the best operational advantage would come from having just one truck tyre pressure monitoring system for the business.

That’s why we have collaborated with TyreWatch to look after our tyres to a higher standard. We believe this innovative solution would be good idea for anyone running a fleet of commercial vehicles. If it’s good enough for a formula one team its good enough for us.”
